When Bob Gilreath visits a city, he wants to know more about it, so off he goes with his camera, searching for some history. Today we join him in Iron Mountain checking out some of their historic buildings.
We start with the Italian church, better known as Maria Santissima Immacolata Di Lourdes Church, which was built in 1890 as the Italian immigrants were making their way here to work in the iron mines. You can read more about it in the first photo.
Next stop for Bob was the old fire station building, which looks like it has been converted into retail space for several businesses. It's an interesting building, looking like the front portion is possibly sandstone, with the back portion mostly brick.
The Northern Michigan bank and trust building is another interesting architectural design. I like how it is built up in the middle section, then spreads out like wings on either side.
Bob wasn't sure exactly what this next building is, except that it is an old warehouse. And then the last photo, is one of the Surface Shops from the Chapin Mine. I have no clue as to the function of this building, so feel free to explain if you do. In the meantime, here's a link to some history on this mining venture in Iron Mountain: Chapin Mine Pit.

I'm trying to guess what the sign on the side of the warehouse said. Looks like:
