With a backdrop of colorful flowers, Joy Ziemnick captured the busy life of a hummingbird, flitting around her feeder and even resting on the frame of what looks like a Shepard's hook plant hanger.
These little birds are hard to capture without them being a blur, but Joy managed it and managed it well. I love how in the third photo you can see its feet all curled while it flies and then the color of the back feathers in the fourth photo…just beautiful. But I think my favorite is the last photo, where you can see the hummingbird's tongue sticking out. Now that's some fancy photography to be able to capture that scene and just look at the length of the tongue and the beak together…it's almost as long as the whole tiny bird!

Hummingbirds, the little birds with the big appetite. To me, the hummingbird is one of the most fascinating members of the bird family. Everyone of these photos are outstanding, thank you so much for sharing your peek into a hummingbird's life.

Amazing. I had never seen a hummingbird stick its tongue out before.

It seems like the ladies have a great skill at getting the hummers! Joyce had a whole flock back in 2005 as well! It would seem to take a lot of patience to get excellent shots like these.
Some very nice weather related pictures in the review today too.
Ron and I sit outside and watch the hummingbirds all the time. There are so many birds out here at our feeders all day. I never tire of watching them! Nice pictures!
