Kathy Archambeau and a friend were on their way back from Marquette when they spotted something on the side of the road. As they got closer, they could tell it was a moose and it was right alongside the road, so they stopped and started snapping right away.
Seeing him close up like this was quite a treat. Most often when you spot a moose, it's on the back side of a bog or marsh and unless you have a good lens, you don't get a good image, but Kathy sure had luck with her that day, to get that close to this guy and take her photos right out of the car window. He didn't seem to mind all the cars stopping to stare at him, nor did he mind all the cameras snapping away. Quite the photogenic critter!

Last night about 7pm I drove past this very spot, just a little east of Koski's Corner, on my way back from downstate. Seeing the grassy field reminded me of one twilight when Edie and I were driving this stretch. We saw cars along the side of the road, so we slowly started around them, when all of a sudden behind us, two moose crossed the highway and came running up on the shoulder to our right.
As we kept rolling, they galloped up even with us and probably ran 100 yards or so, right beside us. Edie was in the back seat looking straight out the window at them, laughing like a schoolgirl. I was very nervous, fearful they might cut in to our lane to cross back. By now traffic was coming toward us, so I pulled a little ahead of the 2 moose, to prevent them running in front of us. They both snorted and sharply turned to their right, bolting away from the road, much to my relief. What an exciting encounter!

I saw a moose on that stretch of road in June, just before where 28 splits off from 41. It was right in the middle of the road and in no hurry to get to the other side. My picture through the windshield was not as good as these, though.

Great photos! A rare sight for sure. I think I see his sidekick Rocky in the background! :=))

Very nice shots of a handsome animal, it's like a thoroughbred with horns. And that story reminded me of the Gran Prix, Charlie.

We saw one up close on Pointe Abbaye a few years ago. My first thought was, "Why is there a horse out here?" My second was, "Why is he out here without a rider?" My third was, "It's a moose!" I did get a short video. My husband was making moose noises at it. (I know.) We stopped at a nearby house and told the people, who were outside. They said, "We heard him!" Haha!

Here are some moose noises. Not the most pleasant of sounds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--PyKhohVcY

Such great pictures. Kathy's probably the envy of everybody on this site.

Wow, after listening to the 'moose noises' i'd say Marsha's husband must be very talented!
