Rod Burdick was on hand to snap some photos of the Classic Canadian Laker, Saginaw as she was arriving in Marquette Harbor and pulling in at the Upper Harbor dock to pick up a load of ore. The second and fourth photos are my favorites of the Saginaw. I love seeing it underway as it arrives in the harbor and in the fourth shot, the LS&I railroad cars up on the upper level of the dock, ready to load ore on the big boat really caught my eye. Neat to see them lined up next to the boat for a perspective of the size of these big boats that sail the Great Lakes.
The last two photos Rod took at the Mattson Lower Harbor Park dock. The EPA Research Vessel, Lake Guardian was in town. According to LakeGuardian.org, this boat "sails on behalf of the USEPA Great Lakes National Program office, gathering environmental data to gauge the health of the Great Lakes." You can read more about this boat by clicking on the underlined name of the vessel earlier in this paragraph.
A boat fix! Thank you, awesome photos Mr. Burdick!

The Saginaw is looking pretty lean. Better start feeding her some pellets, you can see her ribs. Great pictures, I like pictures of the boats docked in Marquette.
