I had to do a double take when I opened these photos from Liz Siivola, because I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing…a fawn laying there in the shelter of the headstones. Liz and her husband, Peter were out on a bike ride and decided to ride through the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet. She said it was quite the surprise gift to find this little one nestled between the tombstones like that. It doesn't look to be too startled by their arrival and picture taking, either, since it's just lying there and not off running away.
These days people put all sorts of different decorations on their loved ones graves, from flowers, to angels, to solar lights, even an occasional plastic deer, but I think this is the first time I've seen a living, breathing decoration. I hope its mother came along and helped him find a safe place to rest for the night.

Oh how precious!!! Love the deer in the 2013 picture as well. When the dog and I were on our walk last night, there was a deer just standing there in the middle of the road. She looked at us for the longest time and then just casually walked away. So adorable!!

I think he just stopped by for a cold one, or perhaps he was paying his respects to his good buddy...Ol' Buck. "So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde and that's it hangin' on the shed! Altogether now! (ROLF HARRIS)

I had to look Ol' Rolf up after all that, never heard of him. Sorry, I'll still take my Outlaw Country, or good ol' Southern Rock n Roll.
