While Bob Williams was in Eagle Harbor, he had the opportunity to photograph some unusual water craft that landed there. Float planes, also known as Sea planes are not the norm on the shores of the beach UP there, so you can imagine the excitement they bring with them for anyone that spots their arrival.
Bob was able to snap a couple of photos from the observation deck at the lighthouse, while the planes were in the air and he said by the time he got back over to the beach they had already landed. You can see that they had begun to draw a small group of curious folks that came to see the planes up close. I'm not sure what the occasion was for their arrival, maybe they flew in to celebrate the 4th in the area. But whatever their reason for being there, it sure makes a great photo op!

Is that legal? There is no fence and no TSA or metal detectors to guard against hijacking and terrorists. :-)

I think that this is a tour that they do every year. I have been there a couple of times when they have created a buzz.

It was fun to see the float planes come up the shoreline. When I got over to the beach they had landed and turned around. They were being tied up with a long rope to what ever they could find near the brush growing along the shore.

This looks like the same plane that flew low over my Brother's home in Dollar Bay as we were in the yard & appeared to land in the Canal.
