Over the weekend there were parades and activities in many of the towns UP North. Of course one of the most common sights on this weekend is that of our nations flag, which Donna MacIntosh captured magnificently, with the sun glowing through the stars.
We had superb weather for the 4th of July weekend here in the Keweenaw, too, with temps in the 80's, plenty or sunshine and a few clouds now and then. Donna managed to capture some good examples of the clouds as they moved along through the skies.
And the holiday wouldn't be complete without Santa, right? Wait a minute, that's a different holiday completely, so what is the guy in the red suit doing here in Lake Linden on the 4th of July? Well, he's vacationing of course and he's busy fixing something to eat on his fancy blow-up grill. Sue Haralson spotted Santa and snapped a photo of him to share. You just never know who you'll see in town on the 4th!

Nice to see the ubiquitous Mr. Claus. He must be in the area getting ready for Chrismoose on Isle Royale. When I was there I always thought it was kinda neat to see moose hitched to his sled intead of reindeer as a means of conveyance.

I wonder what Santa's got cooking on the grill...the slowest reindeer? Competition can be cruel.
