This past Monday we took a look at the helicopter that was giving rides during the Bridgefest festivities. Now today, we're right there inside the copter, alongside Chris Gariepy and wow, what a view!

Chris starts us out approaching the Portage Canal and the Lift Bridge. Then we're flying over Quincy Hill, checking out the lookout and the Quincy Mine shaft, off in the distance.

The fourth photo gives you a look at the progress being made for the road construction taking place on Quincy St. in Hancock. It's kind of hard to tell from the air, but that's Superior National Bank in the upper right corner, where Chris works in the Trust Dept.

In the last photo, we're getting ready for landing back in the Ramada parking lot. So there you have it, a virtual helicopter ride around Quincy Hill, Hancock and the Lift Bridge and without having ever left the ground.

Speaking of helicopters, the National Park Service on Isle Royale has started an infrastructure program this week, rebuilding the boardwalks and bridges on the hiking trails. This includes using a helicopter to transport loads of timbers from Lake Superior shoreline locations to inland ones.
