Bridgefest was held over the weekend in Houghton with all kinds of festivities going on in town. The only two I caught as I was "passing through" town, are pictured here today. There was a car show on Saturday with a variety of cars in a rainbow of colors. My favorite is the first one, an old C&H ambulance, paired with the Lift Bridge in the background. What a great restoration job, the owner even had photo boards to show the phases of restoring this gem. The one thing I forgot to do was to check what year this Ford vehicle is, but I'm guessing in the 40's.

So while I was snapping the car photos, I could hear something taking off and landing again in the Ramada parking lot across the canal, so I had to check it out, only to find it was a helicopter, giving rides. I snapped one photo of it taking off while I was on the Houghton waterfront. Then the bottom photo I took from the Bridge as it was flying over me and getting set up to land again. The rides didn't last long, but a friend that went, said it was well worth the price of the ticket and the 6 minutes or so that you are up in the air was more than enough for her. It sure looks like a great way to get a bird's eye view of the Portage Canal and the twin cities on either side.

What a great place and nice day for a car show.

The car show looked really fun, but something must have been a really big deal to attract the attention of the infamous "Black Helicopter".

Mary says: David...it was actually a dark blue helicopter and it was there special for the Bridgefest weekend giving rides from the Ramada parking lot, operated by Lake Superior Helicopters.

I too like the ambulance in the first picture. That's a pretty cool buggy.

I so enjoyed the car pics--but I am afraid to ride
in a helicopter. I can barely get on a regular
airplane. I like my feet on the ground.

We had an old cars show at the state fair grounds
this past weekend. There are so many of them out
there. And so many are in such great shape. Fun
to see these!!!
