When Judy Byykkonen needs to "get away", she gathers up her four legged friends and off they go on an adventure in the woods. Her first photo here today shows exactly why that is her get-away, just look at all the green in the scene…beautiful to say the least. Of course, along with that lush beauty this time of year, come the bugs, so you have to arm yourself with some type of bug repellant before heading out. Even with the pesky bugs, though, the beauty along the way makes it all so worth it. So many wildflowers are in bloom along the forest floor, there is color just about everywhere you look.
And if you're lucky enough to find some apple trees in bloom, better yet. Judy actually found the crabapple and white apple blossoms right in her own backyard and oh my, the bright colors she photographed are breathtaking. I wish this kind of pretty could last all summer, but then again, if it did, we wouldn't get any juicy apples to bite in to or crabapples for jelly making and feeding the birds. I guess the bible quote and popular song about it are correct: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…"

A walk in the woods with a dog or dogs is so relaxing! To be able to see, smell, and hear what a walk in the woods offers, priceless!

If I may add, my profile picture shares Judy's thoughts.

I love your quote,Alex, and I agree. The bugs have not been too bad. I do use some Deep Woods Off on my clothes and hat -it also seems to keep the ticks away. I despise the ticks. The worst thing is-there are puddles and marshes up there and the dogs get warm and wade through them . Giselle-the multi breed dog, actually lies down in the mire. So--the dogs get an hour or two in the basement when we get home--to dry off and clear the wet dog odor.

Beautiful. I'll be cruising trails like this in a little over a month, but who's counting?? ;-)
My profile pic isn't as green, but it does show a very happy couple celebrating 15 years together at the southern most point in the U.S.
