One of the things Bob Gilreath enjoys since he retired, is watching the birds that visit his feeders daily. Something he didn't have as much time to do when he was off to work each day. Another of Bob's passions is photography, which he did plenty of while working, but now that he has additional time on his hands, can do even more of. Today's photos combined both of these hobbies Bob enjoys and we get to enjoy the result.

The visitors to Bob's Hubbell birdfeeder have been colorful and varied for sure. My favorite is the top photo, an Indigo Bunting. I wouldn't say they're exactly rare to the Keweenaw, but it's not a bird I've seen around very often. That's what makes them so special to see and even more so to capture!

Next on Bob's photo list is a beautiful Rose-breated Grosbeak. Striking color, even though it's mostly black and white, the red markings on his chest really make this bird stand out!

Then there's the American Goldfinch…just a smaller songbird that you wouldn't even notice as anything special in the winter months, but come spring, this beauty puts on the brightest yellow. That color change, especially after the gray winter months is a welcome sight for sure.

Bob's last visitor today is the common Blue Jay. Not everyone's favorite backyard feeder bird as they tend to chase other birds away, but still such a beautiful bird with the coloring and markings it wears.

Colorful birds, just one more reason to love Spring here in the Copper Country!

Beautiful bird pictures today. I've never seen an Indigo Bunting. I saw a chickadee in my yard yesterday. I thought those bad boys didn't hang around in the summer.

If I didn't know any better, I would say that Bob G had some history in the service industry... like many good wait-staff, he's managed to catch these visitors to the feed bin with their mouths full... "How is everything?" "Mmmf. Mffpht fmnn."
