It has been one month since my wife of almost 44 years completed her journey on this planet, spending most of those years in the place on earth she loved best. There's something about the natural beauty, the culture, the history of the Upper Peninsula that captivated us both in our teen years. In fact, as somebody pointed out, she was still a teenager when we were married.
I'm finding as I look back through the Pasty Cam archives, many of the scenes had related pictures including Edie, that never made it to these pages. A couple of examples for today's Shoebox Memory... The first is a dedication in Bessemer where the Daughters of the American Revolution graced the occasion in 2012. That's Edie in the top photo, top row, third from the left. Then there's the time in 1979 when I snapped the shot at Cut River Bridge with Edie and little Jonathan, who himself took a photo from the same angle 20 years later. What wonderful memories.
Thanks to all who have expressed your sympathy and condolences to our family. It's a process, adapting to the changes. As you may know, Edie far outlived every prediction (by decades) of life expectancy for someone with Type I juvenile brittle diabetes. I think it had a lot to do with the air we breath here every day :o) If you're interested in the spiritual side of our journey together, you're welcome to catch a 15 minute audio email I sent to a pastor friend this morning.
Have a good week :o)
