You can tell Joy Ziemnick enjoys Springtime and the new growth it brings in the forest. She sent in today's photos, saying that she spent a little time in the woods by her Keweenaw home, taking in the smells and seeing the new life that the season brings along with it. Joy said she was looking for the little details and I'd say she was successful in finding them. She added that it was a most enjoyable afternoon adventure.
I think my favorites are the third and fourth photos, the Trumpet Lichen and the Moss Sprouts. The Lichen photo for the obvious reason, that it's so different and unique and the Moss photo because those sprouts are so delicate looking, coming out of the bright, green moss growth. Upper Michigan nature at its finest!

Love the close-ups! Expected to see a British soldier in there too!

Exceptional detail and clarity! Did you end up with grass stains on your elbows, Joy?

Alex, once again you seem to have strayed from the botany theme!
David, only sleet and a stiff wind here. That's enough for mid-May!

Nice pictures. Love getting close-ups like that.
No snow here but the wind is so strong that I think we have a wind chill factor. Temp got all the way up to 45 today. But with the wind chill figured in, I'd bet it felt only in the 20's. It's sure not May weather. Glad I've been too busy to plant anything yet.

It amazes me that after all that heavy, wet snow melts-everything comes back to life. Beautiful photos.
