After the memorial service last Sunday for my wife Edie, revisiting memories through the week, I noticed that so many of our photos were taken right here in the Keweenaw. After all, it was her favorite place on earth.

In the four seasons remembered above, the first is Eagle Harbor Inn, our favorite booth, around Christmas time. In the Spring, Edie would deliver DAR awards to ROTC and JRTOC winners, seen here at Michigan Tech, along with not-so-little Cadet Lytle. The pleasant roadside park at Lac LaBelle is the Summer scene, a picnic along with Becky and granddaughters Kira and Kit. Finally, in the Fall we would "walk the loop", Edie and Shadow along the old two-track that winds a mile through the woods at Eagle River, emerging at Evergreen Cemetery... where she was laid to rest last Sunday.

On behalf of our whole family, I want to say a heartfelt Thank You for all of your kindness and expressions of sympathy. We are especially grateful to everyone with memorial gifts to Beacon House, often a "home away from home" in the past three years of her battle with complications of juvenile diabetes.

Edie loved the U.P. This month Pasty Central celebrates 20 years on the web at the address pasty.com. Our motto from the beginning of this project was, "Supporting care for the elderly in the U.P." - Little did Edie and I realize back then... someday we would BE the elderly. What a wonderful place the U.P. has been for us to make that journey.

Congrats to Marquette's Lakeview Arena which was named the 2016 winner of the Kraft Hockeyville USA competition!!! The arena gets $150,000 for upgrades and will host Buffalo and Carolina on October 4th in a preseason NHL game!

I visit "pasty.com" daily, but have seldom provided comments. Thank you for all your wonderful work for the elderly. (I know what you mean about becoming the elderly.) You and Edie have provided much inspiration to us all. Although I never met her, I know she was a wonderful person. God bless!
