Brita Haapala, owner and photographer at Brita Caroline Photography, was in Houghton as dusk was settling in around the Portage Lift Bridge, so she took the opportunity to snap a few photos. My favorite is the one with the Isle Royale Queen IV at the dock on the Houghton waterfront. I'm guessing it won't be too much longer and the Queen will be making her way back up to her summer home in Copper Harbor, getting ready to begin the daily trips over to Isle Royale.

Photos of "our" Bridge here in the Copper Country are always favorites, since this Bridge symbolizes HOME to so many, both those of us that reside here presently and those that transplanted to somewhere else. Brita captured the beauty perfectly, showcasing the allure of this special gateway to the Keweenaw.

The Reflections Of A Bridge. This group of pictures is an outstanding depiction of the connection between the Upper and Lower Keewenaw. Impossible for me to pick a favorite.

A month from now I'll be crossing that bridge.
