Not too many folks can say they toured the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore going 120 mph, but that's the speed E.Neil Harri's airplane was flying at when he snapped today's shots.

Neil captured the classic views of the famous Lake Superior shoreline, but from an altitude you don't normally get to see these scenes from. His first photo with the arch rock is always a familiar sight, but the Miners Castle picture (the second shot) is probably the most well known of all the rock formations in the Pictured Rocks Park. A number of years back, a second "turret" of the castle fell into Lake Superior, leaving the lone formation you see here today. Neil made the observation that since that collapse, Miners Castle looks more like a Crouching Lion and I'd have to agree with him on that.

The remaining pictures are outstanding views also, showing the varying colors of Lake Superior with the different depths of the water, along with the traces of remaining snow along the edges of the cliffs. In the bottom photo, Neil captured a boat passing by below him. Kind of early to be out boating, but what a great way to make the boating season longer here UP North.

These pictures are all fantastic. Figured they had
to be Neil's as soon as I saw the first one.
Outstanding!!!

Some great pictures of a beautiful shoreline, the Pictured Rocks. I must admit that I have never taken the cruise and shame on me for not doing so yet.

Hi
Beautiful and unique. The colors of the cliffs are more gray than I recall from summer views.

Excellent...thanks for the tour!
Is that a cross on the cliff face in the 4th photo, or just a shadow?

Any word about the Dr. and Capt. ? Watching the news, and
worrying about them.

My wife and I hope to take the boat tour of this someday.

We are going agin in August. I got sick as a dog
the last time we went so I'm hoping we'll get to sit
on the top side of the boat this time so I can enjoy
it more. Motion sickness is awful!!
