It was like a day in August today across the U.P. With sunshine and temps in the mid 70's, one of those wonderful days before the bugs all come out. A good day for a drive across the U.P., as many of my wife's family made an impromptu visit, sort of a belated birthday get together.

The little girl in the peddle car is now a resident at PortagePointe in Hancock, in our ongoing battle with her juvenile diabetes, which was began not too long after that photo was taken back in the mid-50's. Here's a Facebook update we posted for Edie this weekend. Thanks for all who continue to remember Edie in their prayers.

So glad you were blessed with a good day for Edie when the family visited. Our hearts and prayers are with you both on this long road. Edie is blessed with a good and faithful husband, and you, Charlie, have been blessed to have her as wife way beyond the years you were told you would have. Edie's remarkably resolute good spirit and sisu has been unwavering through her health issues. Charlie as well.

Words tend to fail me in times like this, I just tend to incoherently babble on. I can only echo the sentiments and good wishes of the other folks here for you both.

Thanks much, everyone. Edie has always considered Pasty Cam friends to be a part of our extended family. I spent most of today with her, and conveyed your caring expressions of support. She was sleeping peacefully when I left for Eagle River.

What a beautiful sunset as I arrived home... I watched it this evening for both of us :o)
