Spring is in the air, even if that air is chilly and wet, so Lindsay White and a friend decided to head to the tip of the Keweenaw and do a little fishing. So as if relaxing with a rod and reel in hand isn't good enough for reducing the stress of a work week, these two picked a spot with a beautiful scene across the Harbor. The Copper Harbor lighthouse is always photogenic, especially when she's winking at you!
You can see in Lindsay's photos here that there was still some snow on the shore when they were there, both around the lighthouse and the opposite shore where they were fishing. Lindsay reported that the fish were biting and that they were catching Splake, going home with three of them. They actually caught 5 total, but one got away and another had to be thrown back due to not meeting the size requirements for keeping them. They made for a tasty dinner the next evening, I bet.

Nice pictures and nice catch of fish. Nothing like giving the old taste buds a treat. There sure are varying amounts of snow in the pictures on this day in history. The second picture reminds me of the time my brother cut my hair.

Wise words and a question from Mardy Murie:
"There may be people who feel no need for nature, they are fortunate, perhaps. But for those of us who feel otherwise, who feel something is missing unless we can hike across land disturbed only by our footsteps or see creatures roaming freely as they have always done, we are sure there should be wilderness. Species other than man have rights, too. Having finished all the requisites of our proud, materialistic civilization, our neon-lit society, does nature, which is the basis for our existence, have the right to live on? Do we have enough reverence for life to concede to wilderness this right?"

Pat and Glenda, that has a lot of truth to it! The whole universe is nature and every single thing in it comes from it.

Great pictures today. How I'd love to be at that lake.
