We are all pretty lucky that whenever Joe Kirkish heads off for a drive around the Copper Country, he always remembers to take his trusty camera. Today's photos were taken on a drive he took from Houghton to Eagle Harbor on a beautiful, but cold day recently.
Joe stopped along the way and snapped some interesting things he saw, including my favorite of the bunch, the first photo. I love the clouds in the blue sky, the snow on the tree, the angle it was shot at, just everything about it. So much so, that I keep going back to look at it time and again. It soothes me.
Then there's the broken tree, bowled over by the wind, but since it looks like it was already dead, it probably didn't take much to knock it down. The snow fence is next, with interesting shadows from both the fence pickets and the tall weeds. The shoreline ice photo caught my interest with the built up snow/ice bank so piled up in heaps there, too.
The final three photos Joe took at the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse campus. Different perspectives than we normally see of this historic light. One from the backside, showing several of the other buildings on the grounds. A side view showing the fence and open water in the Harbor Channel there. And then the last shot, looking over towards the marina, across the harbor entrance. You can see the large rocks that mark where boaters need to go between if they don't want to rip off their prop or the bottom of their boat, they're completely covered in white right now. It won't be too much longer anymore though, and all that white will be melting away and it will be spring. At least I'm hoping

I am partial to every single one of Joe's pictures. I'm so happy he felt inspired to make that drive and take those pictures for all of us to see and for you to describe so very well. Excellent review as well.

All are great pictures but my favorite is the snow fence with the short shadow. Thanks for sharing. Janie T: I forgot to mention this in the snowmobile feature yesterday. A long time ago, before there were groomed trails, I got my machine stuck in the woods so bad that I had to have my brother come with his horse to pull me out:) I think the horse was one of the better inventions of all time.

Spectacular pics. I enjoyed each one---almost as much as I enjoy Club Indigo!
