It was a while getting here this year, but the shores of Lake Superior are definitely sporting the look of winter right now. Barb Bouwkamp was out at Bucky's, also known as Calumet Waterworks Park when she snapped these shots. The sun was shining bright, but don't let that fool you, she said the temperatures were quite chilly. She would have taken more pictures, but was freezing after just a few, so this is all we get today. Needless to say, there was no picnic to be had that day and forget about swinging on those colorful swings, too.
If you recall, we visited this same beach back on February 5th, but it didn't look like there was as much ice on the shore then. So the contrast from just nine days later, gives you an idea of how things change so quickly around Lake Superior, no matter what season it is, it's ever-changing!

I have almost the same exact photos of Bucky's as Barb from when Nat and I were up for Winter Carnival. The first time there on the 4th the water was a ways out, but on the 7th the water was close. In fact, where we walked on the 4th was open water 3 days later!!

A whole bunch of great pictures. I like the birch trees. They are my favorite tree. When the snow decides to melt it will melt quickly this year. Nothing substantial to back that up, just a hunch.

Great pictures. My favorite is the first one, with the fence. They're the kinds of photos I'm attracted to.
In the review, I just love the 2001 photo. What a wave!

Nice shots of Bucky's. I lived just up from there on the lake - in fact 2006 is one of my shots from the great room of my log home, after a LES storm. As one comment at the time said, "Those birds need a roof rake!" Agree. We also had visits with the nocturnal flying squirrel such as the one in 2007. They are cute!

Did anyone else notice the croc in the second photo?
