Last week this group at a church in Adrian assembled an army of pasty bakers and made 4,177 pasties for Habitat for Humanity. We congratulate the organizers and all of the participants for investing so much effort to make so may people happy, and support a very worthwhile cause. See the video.

Great job for a great cause, pasty makers! Every year our church youth group makes pasties to fund their mission trip. Not on quite as large a scale as the Adrian crew here, but quite an enterprise nevertheless. Lots of work, but lots of fun, too!

Deb S., yes it's kind of hilarious that the media panics at the onset of maybe half a foot of snow such as expected today in our neck of the woods in northeastern CT. You'd think it was the apocalypse at the doorstep! I'll always remember (kinda hard to forget, actually) the three winters I spent in the Copper Country. It sure taught me how to drive in "real" snow. Folks around here just don't have any SISU, I guess! Donna; wouldn't an apple pasty be called an apple turnover? Back about 40 yrs. ago the Parkside Restaurant and Bakery in Calumet used to make them, absolutely delicious.
