I think it's safe to say that Gary Lassila is passionate about Curling here in the Keweenaw. So much so that he's helping to introduce the CLK Washington Middle School kids to the winter sport each year. The 7th and 8th grade classes spend three sessions, two of them learning the sport and practicing and then the third session is "game day". Gary said that some of these kids are naturals, taking to the sport right away and are actually really good at the game.
You can tell from Gary's photos, that the kids are pretty serious about learning and playing the sport, yet the smiles tell you how much fun they're having. What a great way to get kids active in something they may not otherwise ever try. These folks that volunteer their time to instruct the Middle School kids are possibly creating the new generation of Curlers!

Cool pix of a sport that takes a lot of "stones"...right to the very "end". (See what I did?) :-)

...Nice review BTW and 2002 looks like fun. I've had the Wing UP there in that very spot many a time.

Happy Saturday!!
I love the bridge pics, and the water spout, and the dog sledder, and the bonfire, and the skiers or tobogganers, and the dog, and the chickadee, and the guy on the roof, etc., etc. Such a great review today!
Curling is definitely something I never understood and, therefore, something I never enjoyed watching. Good for these guys for having some fun with it.

I like the wintry shot looking up 5th St. And there's good ol' Ace Hardware - THE Best hardware store you'll find anywhere!! Rodney and Pat are the best!! Also loving that dog plowing through the snow.

That sure looks like a most exciting sport … 💤😪💤 … it could curl your hair! (Those roundy things are some crazy "curling irons"!) 😉
Mary says: I don't think those young people in the photos would agree with you on this one FRNash. It looks to me like they're having fun. Maybe you should try it, you might like it!

Interesting game. Not sure about how it's played but it must be fun, the kids look like they are enjoying it. Nice day here in Eastern Iowa today. Calm before the storm I guess. Bob is out right now taking his new motorcycle for a spin.

Well JT, I think a pic of the new bike is in order. Even though I can't ride, I can live vicariously.

...and I forgot, this is a game I play at work when nobody is watching.
Alex, it's posted. After 2 years thinking it over and over he went with another H.D. Dyna Low Rider.

Thanks JT and Bob, that's a sweet looking machine and may you enjoy it for many years to come. I'm having a blast just thinking about those sweet curves...on the bike and on the road. :-)
