Danielle Adams was on hand a week ago when the Paul R. Tregurtha made a stop at the LS&I (Lake Superior and Ishpeming) Ore Dock to unload the last load of coal for the season. Danielle said it was a rare visit, as the last time it was here in the Marquette Harbor was Nov. 20, 2014. That was two months after running aground at Duluth, as the bonus video recalls (courtesy of Gary Fiedler and Dawn LaPointe ).
With the closure of the Soo Locks for the season coming this Friday (Jan. 15th), there won't be much action in the Marquette Harbor again until March, so this may be the last of the freighter photos for a couple months. With over 100 years in service, the LS&I Ore Dock could probably use a little break and so can all the sailors that sail on Lake Superior. Rest well and we'll see you again in March!

I'm getting so anymore I can look at the first picture and know exactly who's going to be featured for that day.... ;-)
I like the pictures of the boats all lit up at night time. Great pictures. I'll be happy when the locks open up again. The sun is out today but it is just practicing. It doesn't have it's heater on.

I'm with you on that, Duane. Freighters with lights warm my heart. Hope all the sailors enjoy their break.
