Marquette is on the shores of Lake Superior, so this time of year, it is often coated in more than inches of snow as you can see in today's photos snapped by Laurie Bashaw. We start out with a beautiful view of the Marquette Light Station looking even more red than usual set against the white snow on the ground and the darkened sky.
Then we move to a beach scene from Picnic Rocks Shiras Park. No beach goers today, though, as the sign states, "Beach Season Ended - No Lifeguard on Duty." In the third photo you see what's known as Picnic Rocks just off shore from the beach.
The last three photos are the unique ones, though. When the wind is howling and the waves are splashing, anything and everything along the shoreline is coated in an icy jacket. Some just layered on, making the branches quite thick. Others with the coating, but also icicles hanging as though someone hung them there for decorations. Once again, nature does her own decorating... beautiful!

Not much sunshine in Marquette on that particular day. The ice coating on the branches and trees are very pleasing to the eye. That always makes for neat pictures with endless patterns.
