Suzi O'Brien and her husband, Paul recently enjoyed a wintry hike on the Monk's trail in the Keweenaw, where they doubled their pleasure with a calm pond reflection, crossed several bridges, checked out a bench to rest on, and reflected on a snow covered cross.

I've never been there in person, but I feel like I have, since we've featured this trail a number of times before, although I don't think we've ever gone there in the winter. This is part of the Holy Transfiguration Monastic Park near the Jam Pot in the Keweenaw. Click on this link to revisit during the summer months: June 5, 2013. It sure is a peaceful looking place to be, whether it's lush and green or the white of winter. A great place to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty, peace and quiet of nature.

That first one would make a striking Christmas
card! They are all beautiful. Thank you.

A group of pictures that makes winter look nice is truly a great group. This group qualifies for greatness.

Absolutely beautiful pictures!! Love the black
and white of them. It just adds to the beauty.
And the review is great also.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 - 10:34 pm:

Upon closer inspection, I guess it isn't black and
white. But it is so close. Absolutely love it!

Thank you for nice comments. I love the Keweenaw and
Monk's trail no matter the season. Incidentally, these were
taken on Christmas Day.

The Monks have the best bakery on the planet!

By Cindy, New Baltimore, MI (Cindy) on Thursday, January 7, 2016 - 11:18 am:

Beautiful photos of the Monk's trail in winter. I
agree with you, Dave. My favorite thing at the
bakery is the peanut butter & Jelly brownie. It's
delicious! I always tell them I'm going to eat it
for lunch so it's really good for me . . . you
know, all the protein in the peanut butter and
all. We also take a lot of jam home with us to
give as gifts and to keep some for us until our
next trip.
