Chad Johnson was on his way to work in the early morning hours and this is what he saw along the way. He said the Lake was like glass and he felt like he was inside a post card, looking across the Lake so beautiful and serene.
It's not often that the Portage Canal is seen without a ripple, especially this time of year, since it is normally icing over by now. Several of these shots looking over toward Houghton, could be turned upside down and you'd have a hard time telling it was.
After all the hubbub of the Christmas holiday and weekend, we thought this would be a peaceful way to start the last week of the year. Enjoy!
Mary says: As a footnote, these photos were taken less than a week ago and today when I went to Houghton, I noticed that the canal is now iced over. A thin layer, I'm sure, but iced over just the same. What a difference a couple of colder days make.
