"They" always say that if you don't like the weather here in the U.P., just wait 5 minutes, it will change. Today's group of photos from three Pasty Cammers, proves that point quite well.

The first two shots come to us from Darlene Vuorinen, taken last Wednesday, Dec. 16th in Great Sand Bay. Her hubby Urpo sent the photos in, saying that his wife ran into the house, grabbed her camera and raced outside saying, "double rainbow". They were fading fast, too fast for Urpo to get to those double pots of gold coins. He said they don't recall seeing a double rainbow at Great Sand Bay, this late in the year before.

The next four photos were taken by Joy Ziemnick who just can't resist heading up to the Upper Entry whenever the winds start howling. These photos were snapped the day after the rainbow shots, Dec. 17th, when the winds had whipped Lake Superior into a crashing frenzy on the shores near McLain State Park. It looks like the waves couldn't decide which way to go, so they just went all over the place, thrashing and crashing away.

Fast forward two days, to Dec. 19th and this time it's Elaine Robbins behind the camera at McLain Park, but the waves had calmed down, yet still cresting and rolling in. She even captured a brave surfer riding a wave in to shore. Elaine figured the surfers were hardy young men to be out there in the 25-33 mph winds and 18° chilly weather. Myself, I think all our photographers are pretty hardy themselves, to be out there braving the elements snapping pictures, while Lake Superior rages around them.

The wild ones of Superior remind me of what we saw at the South
Entry last October, but these seem even more violent.

Wow, those are some wockin' and wollin' waves. That must have been a sight to see. Enjoyed all the pics today but loved the waves.

There is something magical about a rainbow. I love all
the pics today. I am amazed at the many surfers who go
out into the cold and waves into early December.yikes!

I love the rainbow. Beautiful wave pictures. Only
a video could be better. The churning up of the
sandy bottom somewhat spoils it for me.
