Elaine Robbins is taking advantage of the lack of snow we have here in the Copper Country right now, by getting out there hiking. Today she takes us to the Black Creek Sanctuary Trail, which begins just off the end of the Cedar Bay Road. She said the trail is a mix of terrain including woods, ridges, meadow and of course, lakeshore.
The first photo is Hills Creek and the second one is Black Creek. The two converge near Lake Superior.
Elaine's last photo is the creativeness of another hiker. What a neat leaf design someone left on the trail for the rest of the hikers to enjoy. Kind of like a welcome sign!

Very nice pix, almost like a mid-summer's day with Black Flies and everything. I wonder if this weather will extend the shipping season on the Great Lakes.

Absolutely love the 3rd and 4th pictures. Love them all, but they're my favorites. It's cool to see no snow at this time of year for the U.P. Wonder how long that will last.

...there's a lot of activity on the Lakes right now.
Never get tired of Lake Superior pictures in any season.

This season's lack of snow really reminds me of the strong El Nino from 97-98 when I remember picking on the rock piles New Year's Day before the Rose Bowl. I also remember the complete lack of snow for Winter Carnival and it had to be trucked in from 50+ miles away to build statues.

Hard to believe these photos were made UP there in December. But they sure are pretty, Elaine.

Great pictures Elaine. Hiking in the woods in December without snowshoes on your feet is a rare blessing. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
