Myself, I sometimes have trouble balancing on one leg while standing on the ground, let alone trying it up in the air on someone's hands, but those kind of acrobatic skills are second nature to the young women and men on the Michigan Tech Cheer Team. These young folks do a fantastic job of cheering on the crowd, getting them into the game and they do so by performing some amazing feats.
Bob Gilreath captured some of their performance at a recent men's basketball game at the SDC wood floor gymnasium. These cheerleaders must put in hours upon hours of practice to get such precision in place for their performances at the games. They have to be quite the athletes to do all the lifts, flips and especially the landings. I shudder to think of the learning process in the beginning of their practices, wondering if they missed catching someone when first learning how to perform.
The fans always enjoy the entertainment and the Cheer Team's hard work at getting the crowd involved in the game. What a great way to get the fans cheering the Huskies on!

I didn't even have to see who took the photos to know who it was. Great job Bob, and hats off to the Huskies Cheer Team for the marvelous, yet dangerous activity they do!!!

Sure hope all those acrobatics don't cause them joint problems in their golden years. Have known of it happening. It is something fun to watch though.

What most don't realize is that they aren't actually tossing them into the air. They're levitating them using the Force.

No humans were harmed during the production of these photos. Great shots, Bob, thank you!
