Ron Anderson captured some of the icy beauty that Lake Superior forms when the temps are below freezing here in the Keweenaw. We've had unseasonably warmer temperatures lately, but there have been a few days where the waves have coated the shoreline branches and froze in layers.
It never ceases to amaze me how Mother Nature can take something as common as shoreline branches and cold, cold Superior waves and make something so beautiful. When Ron posted these icy sculpture photos, he commented that it was "Mother Nature and Lake Superior working together." I couldn't have said it better myself... those two together make a great team!

Icicles make some pretty patterns and designs but the only one I like are the ones that we found in March that were on the maple trees and tasted like syrup. They were good.
