As I'm typing these notes, the snow is coming down once again. It's been coming and going here in the Keweenaw and according to the weather forecast this coming week, it will most likely melt again. We all know that it will be here to stay soon, though.

Ashlee Harvey was at a friend's farm recently when she snapped these photos of their passel of hogs in the snow. They look pretty happy with their muddy snouts, just wallowing in the wet mud. When we were farming, the pigs were always my favorite.

It looks like the three horses in Ashlee's last photo were hoping that she might be doing more than just taking their photo. Like maybe they were looking for her to toss them a bale or two of hay instead. Winter weather in the Keweenaw really brightens up the farm, too!

Like the horse photo. And look at those creatures eating like pigs (LOL).

My dad lived on a farm with his seven brothers and sisters in Republic Mi. Two of his brothers are still alive (WORLD War II vets).
My dad had a pig as a pet. Pigs were a thing (pot bellied pigs) as pets in the '80s and they are relatively clean animals.

Love the horses. They're beautiful animals. Not
so fond of pigs (except as ham or bacon), lol! I
really like the first 2 pictures of them, though.
They're kind of cute. It's always fun to go to
farms and see all of the animals. One of my co-
workers has a hobby farm and has just about every
farm animal imaginable. She loves her
pigs...calls them Ham and Charlotte. Makes me
laugh every time she talks about them. Thanks for
sharing these.

I haven't been this schnozzled in 40 years!

When I was a small child my mama and daddy owned some farm property about 24 miles from where we lived. They had pigs on the property which were looked after by some other folks most of the time, but on occasion we'd go to check on them and we always carried some corn to feed them as a treat. I enjoyed listening to them 'crunch' the corn and cobs. Oh how I love farm animals!!;)
Thanks for these reminder from the past, Ashlee, and Mary,

Sheesh Alex, I thought you got schnozzled every April 15?? ;-)

I just imagine what those horses are thinking.... "alright, we posed for your pic in this snow, now give us a sugar cube"! The pigs are actually kinda cute too, unlike the feral pigs that are ripping up everything around here lately.

Capt...schnozzlism used to be the tradition, but now I take more of a stalagmite position, as opposed to helictite. (impressive, eh?:-)

The pigs in the first picture on the right look like someone said "bacon" LOL! So cute!
