Brenda Leigh received the Birthday gift she was hoping for this year, when the skies clouded over with ominous looking dark clouds that were loaded with snow. She was able to spend her special day playing out in the snow near Whitefish Bay and Vermillion Life Saving Station.
The day involved plenty of exploring on back roads and hiking in to various places, including the shores of Lake Superior where she captured these wild wave photos. Brenda commented that she wished she had a surfboard and knew how to use it. I have no doubt if she did, she'd have been out there on those waves, with the wind and snow whipping at her face, smiling away and absolutely loving it!
Those last two photos Brenda snapped look more like a Christmas card scene, than Thanksgiving, but our U.P. weather often tends to skip past this holiday with snow already blanketing the ground. Needless to say, it is still November and this is the day we set aside to be more in tune with our thankfulness. Today on the Pasty Cam, I am thankful for all the beautiful photos and the photographers that share them with us, along with all our viewers, those that chime in and those that just stop by to enjoy the beauty. There are many more things I'm thankful for, including my beautiful family, so I'll just end by wishing you and yours a Happy and peaceful Thanksgiving!

The lake was not a place for a canoe on that particular day. Lots of white water. I hope everyone has a safe and tummy filling Thanksgiving.

I have to share an email I received from a friend. It shows that children are always listening and learning from what they hear...This little guy is already a Pasty.com fan and he's only three!!
Hi Mary,
I was with my three year old grandson the other day and we had the most interesting conversation:
Grandma: “Gunner, are you going to come to Grandma’s to eat turkey?”
Grandson: “No, I’m going to pasty.com.”
(Grandma and Dad look at each other with that puzzled look) “What??”
Grandson: “I’m going to eat turkey at pasty.com.”
Grandma: “Where did you hear that?”
Grandson: “It was a commercial on the speaker in Mommy’s truck.”
(This little boy remembers everything! I thought you’d get a kick out of it.)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!

Beautiful photos, as always from Brenda on the east end. Brenda, send me a message sometime; I'd like to ask you a couple questions about your Jeep.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the Pasty Cam people out there.

Are those British Soldier lichens?
Years ago we traveled up to the Vermillion Life Saving Station, the route to which, at least back then, wasn't well marked. But after carefully studying our maps we arrived, only to find there were piping plovers nesting on the beach and we weren't allowed to go down to the lake! But we enjoyed 'the hunt' to get there and planned to go back some day. Some day hasn't come yet.

It's great seeing the snow and the Big lake! Seeing those waves makes me wish I was standing on the beach at Great Sand Bay or on some beach somewhere looking out over Superior, the wind holding me vertical. Such great memories!

Forgot to comment on the pix. They're all beautiful, Brenda. My holly bush is no longer.....have no idea what killed it. That's sad because my husband and I planted it when we moved into our home a little over 28 years ago.
