Frederic W. Koski has been out and about in the fall weather, snapping some photos for us all to enjoy without having to leave the comforts of home. We start at King Lake in Baraga County, where Fred says he captured some "God Rays" filtering down through the clouds. Sure looks like a peaceful spot to be.

Then we head over to the Peshekee River, where Fred spotted an Eagle sitting in the birch tree, toward the right side of the photo. This river is a tributary of Lake Michigamme and along with Michigamme and Menomenee Rivers, flows eventually into Lake Michigan.

The last three photos were taken in the McCormick Tract Wilderness area. The first of the three showing the Tamarack tree with its needles already turned their autumn yellow and some bare white birch trees beside it. The second shot, showing more bare birch trees; with the photo looking like it is black and white. But if you look closely, you can see the green in the pines there. Then Fred's third photo of these three actually IS black and white, taken on a gray foggy day in that area. Those last two photos show you how close to black and white our surroundings become this time of year.

The pictures today are very beautiful and show the
grayness we have to get through around here in late
fall.

Wonderful images, Frederic. Thank you! I love the
sense of deep wilderness in the last two.

Very nice pictures! I've always loved this time of year, especially in the northern forests.

That's a beautiful neck of the U.P. I'd like to hike the McCormick
Tract. Has anyone on Pasty Cam ever done that?
