Today's photos were snapped by Bill Thompson of Down Wind Sports in Marquette and Houghton. These folks were out surfing Lake Superior's waves last Friday at Presque Isle in Marquette.

Pretty impressive when you consider that the temperature was winter cold and the wind made it that much colder. I'm not sure about in Marquette, but here in the Keweenaw on Friday, we had snow. So I would think even with a wet suit on, it must be chilly out there riding those waves, but exhilarating at the same time. Cowabunga!!

Glad these folks enjoy this but you'd ever catch me out there!

If I ever surfed in Lake Superior, I'd definitely wear a good helmet. Lady S is rockin' & rollin' with rocks! (Not sure what's on this guys head in some of the photos, but hope it's a helmet)

I think they made a movie of this. Creatures of the Black Lagoon. There is no accounting for what some people call fun. Definitely not for me.

What cool pictures, and so much fun to watch. My
hubby and I have watched Lake Superior surfers
both on the North Shore here in MN, and in the
U.P. in October when we were there. Not my cup of
tea (with the board, though I love to body board
those waves in) but I so love watching them and
Lake Superior in all her glory. What a rush!!
