When Bob Gilreath heads out to work in the morning from his home in Hubbell, he always has a camera or his cell phone along for times such as these two shots here today. With the sun just coming up and fog shrouding the scene, it really brings out the orange glow from the sunrise, so when Bob spotted it, he knew he had to stop and snap a shot to share. You can almost hear the quiet in this photo.
Once he got up to Houghton, the sun had risen a bit higher, but the fog was still hanging close to the ground, making Forest Hill cemetery up by the Michigan Tech SDC building quite picturesque and somewhat eerie looking.
Pretty amazing how two scenes, snapped just minutes and a few miles apart can give you such different perspectives of the morning. One that is absolutely gorgeous and the other a bit haunting, but also beautiful in a mysterious way. Thanks for the morning beauty, Bob!

Great pictures of the sunrise, which is something I don't get to see very often these days. I like both pictures but I think the first is my favorite.

Absolutely spectacular pictures! I especially like the 2nd one with the sun trying to make the fog disappear. Beautiful!
