Nathan Miller was in Lake Linden snapping pictures with his Aerial Kite around the Houghton County Historical Museum campus. He said his main target was to catch the train with a moving camera, flying on a moving kite. And you can see that he did just that.

He spent the better part of an hour capturing views of all the history from various angles and mentioned that the museum complex has a ton going on there. Nathan shared this description of his third photo: "Here's a great look at the remains of the buddles that once operated within the Calumet & Hecla copper mill. The buddles were used to separate copper ore from waste rock. Dozens of these giant concrete basins lie around the area near the Torch Lake waterfront and really give you an idea of how large an operation they had going here at one point."

Nathan's last photo is the Traprock Valley Schoolhouse, which was moved to the museum property in 1983. Besides being a great representation of school in the one-room schoolhouse days, it is also used each year by the Lake Linden-Hubbell sixth grade students for a history lesson. The students all dress in clothing from the era it was in operation and must bring a lunch that would have been carried by the students during that time also, which means no baggies to hold their sandwich, no fancy lunchbox, no juice boxes, milk cartons, or pop #soda# bottles. They spend the day at the schoolhouse learning the "old fashioned" way. Hands-on history…the best way to learn.
