Bob Gilreath went on what he says is possibly his last time on the water for this year, for a fishing excursion he said, but the photos here today look more like a bird watching event and I'm not complaining at all.

He captured some ducks taking flight, while at the same time capturing the color that is emerging along the water's edge. It sure is pretty to see the reds in the trees and the grasses and weeds adding their own fall color to the mix as they turn brownish and dry up for the winter.

I'm not sure about the ducks in the first two photos, but those are Merganser ducks in Bob's third shot. They always bring a smile to my face because they just look like they're having a 'bad hair day", so to speak.

And what "last boat ride of the year" would be complete without a pass under the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and a picture of your wake with the bridge behind you? Enjoy!

Always some sad feelings putting the boat up for the year. But these are beautiful photos! Love the ducks!

Great pictures of your last fishing trip for the year. Thanks for sharing. My guess is that the ducks in pictures one and two are mallards.
