mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 07:43 am:

love the old pictures.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 07:51 am:

Bitter-sweet set with nice fall pix, but you know what's coming.
Woke up and caught a glimpse of the eclipse last night between clouds, can't wait for the next one in 2033.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 07:53 am:

(I'm thinking positive.)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 08:14 am:

Good morning!

Alex, you're too funny. We had cloud cover so we
missed the moon.

Gorgeous pictures here today. There's some color
change here in MN, but not a lot. We had a
beautiful "summer" weekend. I'm sure reality will
hit us soon.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 09:13 am:

The "pig tail" tree is quite the sight. I love the changes of the seasons. I could not imagine everyday of the year being the same o same o. Each season has it's own special qualities.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 09:53 am:

Like Alex and Deb, I dread what follows Fall, but I do enjoy the colors of this season.
Among the pix today, I choose Brenda Leigh's pumpkins. Beautiful!!
BTW, I saw the moon at 4:30 this morning ~ after the eclipse. It was big, bright and bold.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 12:14 pm:

it is what it is.....the seasons change year after year, you can not change that. if you do not have to get out in it, fill up some bird feeders, pull up a chair, look out of a window and just enjoy it.;O) AND if you have to get out in it, bundle up and just enjoy it.....because it will not last forever.

NOTHING LASTS FOREVER....JUST ENJOY IT.

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 03:35 pm:

mickill mouse (Ram4) Well said, like a true Yooper. Embrace the snow, don't hate it. I can't wait to get out and snowshoe. The winters here are beautiful. Yes, nothing lasts forever, appreciate the seasons. I do.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 04:40 pm:

APPRECIATE EVERYTHING...

We just got a phone call from a friend, from downstate, her son passed away. He was 50 yrs. old

Just enjoy it, enjoy it in the name of someone who can not enjoy it anymore, for one reason or another. It does not matter what time of year it might be. Some people do not like summer, to many bugs......get a net to go over your head and just enjoy it.

Get some baskets of different color leaves and put them in a basket with a pumpkin in it.

Make some snowballs and put them in your freezer and throw them at somebody from your door.

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 05:33 pm:

It's just you and me mickill mouse (Ram4). Too many negative posts about snow here. Sorry about your friend.
It seems like a lot of you Pasty Cammers don't even live here and you still hate winter.

Buck UP and move. That's all, good night my friends. :)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 05:44 pm:

There are many considerations as to why some folks do not care for winter. Health reasons are probably the biggest reason. I love winter and snow but I do not hold it against those who don't care for it. Why do that?

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 06:30 pm:

WAVEACTION (LAKELOVER)

Thank You. ;O)

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 06:32 pm:

Yes, i prefer Winter over Summer, but since my husband now uses a wheelchair it poses all sorts of challenges. And we don't need any more challenges. So we enjoy the beauty out the window and stay inside most days.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 06:55 pm:

Really??? Everybody has differing opinions and
different likes and dislikes. Why can't they be
expressed without having somebody out there ready
to pounce on you? A lot of people can not just
"up and move". That takes money and there are a
lot of people who do not have money. And perhaps
they love every other season so they put up with
winter. Some people love winter and put up with
the hot summers because of it. It's just the way
it is. If I get too hot in the summer, I can
come into air conditioning and cool off just like
that. That's not true for me in the winter.
When I get cold, I'm cold to the bone and it
takes me sometimes hours to warm up. That's not
a great feeling. I love the beauty of winter,
just not the overly cold days. So Shirley, I'm
with you!!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 07:18 pm:

I'm the same way, Deb, before age and arthritis caught up with me I used to love being out in the snow, shoveling the driveway, etc., but now things have changed and I much prefer warmer temps. Why heck, back when we lived in ND I would be out in 20 to 30 below zero weather clearing the sidewalk and driveway.
BTW, I was just expressing my opinion earlier today, didn't mean to offend by doing so.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 07:34 pm:

Added note: I don't live in Michigan, I live in Ohio and even though I'm originally from the South and love it, I buried my husband here a little over 4 years ago, so I'll never leave.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 08:54 pm:

Enjoying watching a REAL football team play tonight, almost threw my bottle of Aquafina at the TV last night , also Minnesota is nice this time of year.... Go pack and vikes I envy you both!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Monday, September 28, 2015 - 09:01 pm:

PS, I think we're fortunate to have and enjoy all 4 seasons! :))

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 07:56 am:

Yes...there are many reasons why some people dislike winter. The reason I dislike it is because I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis five years ago and walking on dry pavement has become very challenging, never mind snow and ice. Do you criticize a cripple for sitting in a wheel chair, as well?

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 09:12 am:

It is so sad that people must have to spill their most private issues as why they do not care for winter because a certain pasty cammer thinks of those are wimps. As I mentioned in my post above health reasons is probably the main reason. I don't mind winter, but I have to be careful. I have only 70% use of my right leg due to so many ruptured/shattered lower back discs, has left weakness in it. I have to be careful on slippery conditions so those percentages do not decline.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 10:30 am:

That's what I'm sitting in right now, Alex, and it's no fun after being so active and agile most of my life. And it's also no fun when no matter whether one is inside or out, the cold inclement weather finds your joints.
And yes, Janie, it is a shame that we have to 'spill our private issues' in order for some to understand our 'reasons'. It's demeaning in the fact that it sounds like we're having one big pity-party for ourselves.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 10:41 am:

Shirley, you and the others are not the ones to be pitied. The one who made the "buck UP" comment is the pitiful one!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 10:50 am:

Thanks, Janie, I knew you understood.:)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 04:13 pm:

Shirley, you never said you were in a wheelchair.
I'm sorry it had to come out due to pityful
comments. And Alex, I had no idea you had MS.
You are an inspiration for sure. I love your
comments here on pasty. I love the family we have
here on this site. We're lucky to have one
another. I look forward to seeing you all every
day.

You are an inspiration for sure. And jbuck, I'm
sorry for the problems with your husband. We all
have something going on, don't we?

I love everybody's comments here on pasty. I
love the family we have here on this site. We're
lucky to have one another. I look forward to
reading what everybody has to say every day. And
I don't care which season y'all don't like.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 04:20 pm:

Sorry about the double post. It didn't look as if
the first one posted so I tried again, adding
jbuck because I had forgotten her in the first
post. FRNash, I could sure use some of your
tutoring.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 07:34 pm:

Yep, it's true, Deb, just didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
I too enjoy our Pasty family, a great group of folks!
And we all have Charlie, Edie, and Mary to thank for their hard work in bringing us all together!
:)

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 - 10:39 pm:

I just checked in on Pasty after arriving to visit a friend with many
health issues in the South. So sorry to read some of these posts.
I appreciate PastyCam. Why do we need to run down other people?
Isn't it bad enough that our political world is full of that stuff? Do
we need to make our private world that way too?

P.S. Shirley: I'm on your home turf in Tennessee and thought of
you the minute I crossed the border.

P.S.2: Everybody stay strong and be supportive of one another.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 - 09:22 am:

Thanks, Kosk! You make me homesick.
My best wishes to your friend. God bless you all.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 - 12:15 pm:

Thanks, Shirley.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, October 2, 2015 - 05:50 am:

nobody thinks people who do not like winter are wimps....just find a way to enjoy it the best way YOU can enjoy it.....;O)

My mom use to say, 'I may not be able to do what I use to do....but I can do it in a different way.' That is when she went back to painting the most beautiful pictures, that I have quite a few of. Painting light houses on driftwood, that I have. Just do it in a different way.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, October 3, 2015 - 08:33 am:

I think there's been enough said on this subject.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, October 4, 2015 - 02:40 pm:

A friend of mine, who loved his family and loved life, had cancer. It started as a spot on his lung and spread throughout his body to his brain.

I was in my middle 20's and working. On the way home from work I would stop by and say 'hi' to him and his family. One day I stopped by and they had him up in a wheelchair, could barely breathe. He called by a nickname that only he use to call me. He gave me a bit of advice, while trying to take a breathe in between words. He told me every time I stop by all I do is complain about everything, then he told me, 'No matter what might be going on in your life, put a smile on your face and if somebody asks you how you are doing, tell them you are doing fine even if you are not, and you will find and see that everything will be better.' I went home that night and took a shower and got into bed, the whole time thinking about it. About 11:00 o clock THAT night they called me to tell me he passed away.

I loved posting out here, but not that much anymore. I found that, at times, a person just about has to reveal things that maybe they do not want to talk about. A person sometimes just wants to come out here to get away from what is going on in their life without having to do a profile of themselves or where they are from or if they work or not. If a person wants to do that, it should be done offline. JUST MY OPINION.

I read a lot of postings from 1998 and people seemed so nice back then, talking about the pictures and what they might have to contribute to the pictures, a story that they remember, not anymore.

I try to live up to what a very special person said to me, my friend, before he died, and that is what I was trying to do out here, but I kept getting slammed all the way around.

No matter what I am going through in my life, all I wanted to do was post a few messages from time to time.

This person was a friend because he took me aside, before he died, and told me the truth. And I miss him to this day.

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Sunday, October 4, 2015 - 02:48 pm:

Now that, was one of the best posts I have seen in a very long time.

Life can be a challenge at times but we have to just keep smiling. Sometimes people are like weeds but just remember, a weed is actually a flower in the wrong place.
