Melody Provost Holmes was busy snapping some critter photos lately, capturing some interesting Turkey shots near her home in Norway. She said the first two, with the turkeys atop the hay bale were snapped just up the road from where she lives, while the one of the rafter of them on the run, was in her yard. My favorite is of course the first shot. I just love that they're all up on top that bale, just checking out everything around them from up higher like that.
The three moose photos were snapped on the Amasa stretch in the swampy area, Melody says. It's always a thrill to see a moose in your travels, but to have the opportunity to see a mother and her calf is outstanding. Good thing Melody had her camera at the ready and was able to snap off several shots of them as they grazed for food, seemingly oblivious to having their picture taken. Little did they know they'd soon be Pasty Cam Stars!

In that first pic, was surprised to see a round bale of hay. I'd heard that they had to go back to making bales in the old style, because the cows were complaining that they weren't getting a good square meal any more. (Sorry, couldn't resist that one!) Great pics of the moose(es?) Very lucky to get some shots of both the mom and the calf.

Hay there, turkeys...and as they say in Scotland; "If that's a moose, I'd hate to see a rat." Exciting shots!

Great pictures of our four footed friends and our feathered friends Melody. Thanks for sharing them. I too, like the picture of the family on top of the hay bale with Mother on the lookout for danger.

As the tune goes, "turkey in the straw, turkey in the hay, turkey in the straw, turkey in the hay"

I think I recognize that moose family. Back on July 10th, Mary posted a very similar clearing with a cow and younger calf, from along the same stretch of Hwy 141.
I love turkeys and I don't like to hear people say they're dumb! :) We had the pleasure of seeing a moose with her newborn calf in Wyoming one time...it was way up in the mountains so we figured she'd gone up there so she could have privacy. Thank you, Melody, for sharing these beautiful photos.

I would love to see moose like that. How fun!! We have a couple of families of turkeys around our home. They're so much fun to watch grow up. One got caught by a coyote, though. Made me sad. Thanks for these!
