When Jeremy Rowe of Keweenaw Night Sky Photography gets wind that the Northern Lights will be active, he's out there all hours of the night to make sure and capture the beauty.

For the first two shots, with the reflections in the calm water, Jeremy didn't have to go far, as he said these were taken right in Calumet. He said he made it to this spot just in time and hasn't seen an explosion of light and color like this in a long time. Outstanding!

The bottom photo was taken from what Jeremy says is his "new favorite spot" in the Keweenaw, but he didn't elaborate on where it is, so it must be his new "secret" favorite spot, which is fine with me, as long as he keeps sharing his beautiful pictures from there. According to Jeremy, the Aurora Borealis peaked very late the night he snapped this and with the moon being so bright, along with the lights painting the sky, it combined for a very surreal looking shot. He says it was well worth staying up late and being tired the next day for pictures like these. I totally agree!

Great photos Jeremy. The Northern Lights are by far the best light show ever.

Nice job, Jeremy!
I especially like the first two shots with the composition....

OK Mary I guess the reference to Jeremy getting WIND of the lights was a sneaky reference to the Solar Winds?
Sneaky or not they are great pictures. When ever I am in DA UP I never can seem to time it right nor stay awake long enough to see them. I can not get used to the sky being light at 10pm.

Mary says: Sure, James, that's what it was, a "sneaky" reference. ;-)
Don't worry about the sky being light at 10 p.m., that will be ending soon and before you know it, it'll be dark by 5:00 p.m. :-(
