Held each year at the Hancock Fair grounds, the Houghton County Fair has something for everyone. Linda and Joe Schneller took two of their grandkids there for some fun and games over the weekend and from the looks of the photos here today, they had plenty of both.
They met a number of different types of animals, some you could feed, others you could pet and then several you could even take a ride on. Next the kiddos hopped on the carnival rides, enjoying the thrill of all the ups and downs along the way.
The Monster Trucks are always a big attraction, crushing and driving over vehicles in their way. This one pictured says it's the Ice Cream Man, but I'm guessing there were no ice cream treats coming from that big vehicle, just car crushing entertainment.
As the day was winding down, the kids tried their skills at the games, hoping to win a prize. Looks like they did pretty well, going home with a couple of new friends. All in all, it was a full day of fun, filled with plenty of smiles, which is what the fair is all about.

That's what I was thinking, Jbuck! I've never been to a county fair but went to the Tennessee state fair a few times. I'm wondering, is that second photo a llama or a bear cub.....hard for these old eyes to tell."-)

The Llama/Alpaca in picture 2 looks like it's really groovin' to all the attention!

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Janie, I relly didn't think a bear would be allowed at a county fair.

The nicest part of the whole day is that Grampa and Gramma enjoyed it every bit as much as the grandkids if not more so.

Mickill, that is a mane hood design to be worn by horses to keep their manes laying flat and clean. Especially before horse shows to keep the mane neat. They are made either fun prints or solid. I have psychedelic and solid colors for my horses.

In that last picture it looks like someone won a Chinese Finger Trap. I well remember my first one from the fair. I was quite a bit younger and spent quite a time trying to figure it out to free myself.
