Jeff and Chris Dennis, and family, did some ORV riding in the Marquette area and made a stop at Lakenenland Sculpture Park along trail #417. If you're traveling there by car, the park is located 15 miles east of Marquette, on Highway M-28. The park is filled with "junkyard" art, is open 7 days a week and is free to the public.
While the Dennis family was there, they checked out the BIG snowmobile/plow machine, with their daughter getting ready to take it for a spin. It must have been tough work driving it, because she then had to take a rest in the "skeleton" chair. They enjoyed several other sculptures, before getting back on the trail in the Hiawatha National Forest. The greenery in the woods formed a beautiful canopy over the trail as they made their way to the shores of Lake Superior.
Jeff said they went to AuTrain and Christmas on this ride, along with a few trails around Munising as well. He also mentioned that the interesting thing about this ride for him, was that almost exactly 20 years ago, he rode from Marquette through AuTrain along the same route, except back in 1995 it was in the cab of a locomotive. How fun to retrace those steps with your kids all these years later!

A wild imagination went into the development of this junk art....really wild! Thanks for the ride, Jeff and Chris.

The first one would fit right in at the Dream Cruise, being trailered of course.

Been by there many, many times, and it didn't look too enticing to me. But these pics are very cool and everyone I've heard talk about it has loved it! How can you refuse free?!!! Another free adventure I've discovered on here, like the free petting zoo in Baraga. I bet they could use donations though!

Very interesting place that Lakenenland. That is a lot of work done expressly for the enjoyment of others for free. Not something that happens everyday in the society we now live in.

Have to say this ~ when I saw that first photo this morning (before my hot cup of tea), I thought that was you, Janie (blonde hair & sunglasses) with some sort of new-fangled farm equipment.;)

Believe me, Janie, I'm serious, I really thought it was you. I didn't know she was a kid until I read Mary's introduction. Of course at my age, everybody's a 'kid'.:)
