Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 - 12:12 pm:

The day before Brenda Leigh headed to Grand Marais, she saw a tug and barge going past their place in Brimley. She was quite surprised then to see it in the harbor when they got to Grand Marais. She said they talked to the Captain and he said their company is based out of Sturgeon Bay and they were on their way to Ashland, WI, pulling the barge, to do a project there. They pulled into Grand Marais for safe harbor as Lake Superior was too rough to sail, with the high winds we had this past week.

Brenda said shortly after the tug boat pulled in to the dock, the beautiful yacht docked behind the Stephen M. Asher tug, pulled in, too. She said it was neat to see the working class and the pleasure craft moored there together. Both boats interesting in their own way.

The last photo was the sunrise Brenda enjoyed the next morning. You can see the barge over on the right side of the photo, ready and waiting for the tug to pull it on the rest of their journey to Ashland.

Okay...who's taking bets on the JT vs. Capt. Paul drag race?

lol, Alex
That looks like a beautiful place to seek harbor in a storm. Thanks for the view, Brenda.

Alex, that Challenger was a car Bob was driving for work that day. I wish it was ours. I told him to get a Hellcat Challenger sometime.

I have never been to Grand Marais, MI.
It's another definitely on my "to do"
list.

Thanks, Brenda. Great pictures.

Funny, because we saw that barge passing by the Ambassador and under the Lift Bridge on Saturday, August 1. It certainly drew a crowd in the restaurant as it passed by.

And these days, I wouldn't use the Roadrunner for a drag race; my daily driver will run circles around it!! ;-)
