Today is the day we commemorate the birth of the U.S.A. and across the U.P., towns and villages will be holding parades, races for young and old, music in the park, street dances and of course fireworks exploding in the sky.
It's also a day that everyone should fly their American Flags proudly. Kathleen Niemi Vettori does so on the shores of Lake Superior, where she also shows her Italian and Finnish pride on a nautical flag pole. I love the symbolism in her two photos with the daytime shot having the three flags outstretched with the wind and then when the sun is setting, they're relaxed and resting after a day of representing our country (and those of Kathleen's heritage). Have a safe and enjoyable holiday!
Happy 4th of July!
