Halli Lindley was busy documenting the hatching of baby robins with her camera, from the empty nest to the fledgling bird on its first venture from the comforts of home. She said this nest was built on a ladder hanging on the barn, so it was very easy to access. Although she also mentioned that the parents were super aggressive, so she’d wear full coverage clothing with a hat, to take the pictures. They would swoop at her and chase her. Like most parents, these Robins were very protective of their babies.
I for one am glad Halli went to such lengths to chronicle the hatching of these birds, since it’s not something you get to see up close every day here in the Keweenaw (or anywhere for that matter). It’s so neat to watch the event from the start with the empty nest, to the eggs, the hatch, then the nestlings getting bigger, feathering out and finally we see one fledgling on the ground, ready to make its way here UP North. Nature at its best, for sure!

The beginning of new life. Awesome to see. Thank you Halli for your diligence in photographing this miracle.

Is there anything as sweet as baby birds? Great pics!

So very cool pictures! Baby birds just hatching is not very attractive, however. But I do love birds. Thanks for sharing these!
