That bird feeder in Jeff Stricker's first photo reminds me of a bird cage and is designed like that, so the smaller birds can get in there to the seeds and yet keeps the bigger birds out. He has goldfinches, both male and female, purple finches, again male and female buzzing around it there.

Hummingbirds of course drink nectar, so they get their own feeder filled with sweet tasting liquid food. Jeff snapped a great photo of a Ruby-throated hummingbird, suspended in the air. I bet he could hear its wings while he was taking that picture.

The bird in the fourth photo is an Indigo Bunting, sitting there in all its blueness and then we're back to the pole that holds the bigger feeder, where a purple finch pauses from dining to check out the surroundings.

Jeff has built in entertainment with his feeders around, as there's always plenty of coming and goings on when birds are hungry here UP North.

What fun pictures! My husband and I sit outside
for hours and just watch the birds. They're
amazing! Thanks for these!

Nice pix...I like the Birdie high-rise apartment.

I had Rose Breasted Grosbeaks this Spring...but
didn't see an Indigo Bunting! These are beautiful.

Gorgeous birdie photos!! We used to get all kinds of birds at our feeders in Red Jacket. It also helped that we had nothing but forest behind us for miles! We have neither down here......

Amazing pictures! Colorful birds making the world much more beautiful one bird at a time!

Great shots of the birds. The hummingbirds amaze me. They spend most of their time refueling. I wish the Baltimore Oriole was around here on a steady basis. I think they are a good looking bird.

That's a bummer, Capt...ever think about an Armadillo feeder?:-)

Beautiful bird photos. And I love that first
feeder -- attractive AND useful!

Let me take a minute here and get up on my
soapbox: please don't feed red nectar to the
hummers. Flower nectar is not red. Hummers are
attracted to red, yes, but you need just a spot of
red on your feeder, NOT red nectar. All you need
for nectar is sugar and water in a 1:4 ratio. I
thank you and the hummers will, too.
