I had to chuckle when I received today's photos from Frank Jezek over in Ontonagon. First because he's just as clueless as I am, about the names of various bushes and flowers. When I asked him what the yellow blooming bush in the first photo here today was called, he replied that he couldn't remember, he couldn't spell it, either, but would get back to me. A few hours later, after consulting his bride of 66 years, Dee, he had the name AND the spelling, lucky for me. It's a forsythia bush, which is a fast growing bush and usually one of the first to bloom in the spring.

Frank's second photo is the same bush, two days later. It sure doesn't take long for the blooms to turn green, yet you can still see a bit of yellow hanging on. So nice to see the color and the green again!

My second chuckle was about Frank's last tree, which is quite an interesting specimen. It's a special tree that Dee cares for each year so it can bloom in a variety of greens and blues. I sure hope she's careful when she's placing those branches toward the top. Frank said they get many comments on their unique creation and it is quite the conversation starter, too!

Love the bottle tree. So much you can do with
wine bottles.

Aloha, Just received my pasties from pasty.net a birthday present from my sister. I have to wonder if I am the only person who will be eating pasties here on the islands. Mahalo to Pasty.net only took two days.

An interesting question, for sure. I can't say for this weekend, but the ol' Pasty Central Customer Map shows that pasties have been shipped to at least the following Hawaiian zip codes (but that page also notes that this list hasn't been updated in 8½ years!)

Quote:

Pasty Central has customers in over 5,856 zip codes in all 50 states!!
If you bought pasties and your town does not
appear here, please email us the correction. Updated November 15, 2006
