Esrey Park is on M-26, between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor and that's where Kassy Kallio takes us today. It was quiet there this day, even Lake Superior is relatively still with just some rippling waters. It is actually one of my favorite places to stop and have a picnic…after the bug season is over of course. It is not really a good place for swimming, but you can do some rock picking, the kids can climb the steps and look for the giant footprint on the stones in the trail on top and the view there is outstanding!

Another stop, Kassy made over the weekend was also on M-26, but before you get to Eagle River. There's a turnoff along the highway where you can park and what's known as 10 foot falls is right there off the road. I've stopped there numerous times in the summer, when the water isn't flowing quite so much as in Kassy's photos and you can walk out on the rocks there. Some folks even swim in the pools below the rocks. And guess what, it's all FREE entertainment, both of today's stops are. That's it folks, it doesn't get much better than outdoor fun that doesn't cost a cent, except of course the gas to get there.

The first photo brings to mind "Lone Cypress" near Carmel, CA. However, one isn't likely to see snow long the coast out there.;>
Beautiful photos, Kassy!

I immediately recognized the first pictures as
being at Esrey. Awesome! However, I don't know
where these 10 foot falls are and am relying on
Mary to lead us to them.

Great pictures and it sure is nice to see the shortage of snow along the shoreline.

The drive along rocky shore of the Keweenaw is one of our
favorites. When we're there, we make the trip up & down every
day just for the sheer joy of it. Stopping at Esrey is a must.
Thanks for the great shots.

Excellent quality and color! The last two remind me of Silver River.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Thursday, May 7, 2015 - 10:34 am:

That is a lot of water at Ten-Foot! It's quite a comfortable temperature in the summer, flowing over those sun-warmed rocks! Most beautiful, though, in the fall!
