A follow-up to our Shoebox Memory last month on St. Luke's in Marquette... Edie and I are back in the Hospitality Rooms here at U.P. Health System, where she visited with the prosthetic folks Friday, and we stayed over for a follow-up on Monday. The top two photos above are graduating classes in this very complex (before it was a complex), with special note of the soldier in the top photo. Yesterday we had the privilege of attending the commissioning ceremony for Army ROTC a couple of blocks from here, and among their ranks was a graduate of the current crop of nurses at NMU. In the final photo Edie presents Stephanie Roberts with the National Defense Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Smiling Captain James Kolky looks on, along with Stephanie's proud Mom and Grandma behind her.
Our congratulations to graduates everywhere for reaching your personal milestone. In spite of Edie's current confinement to a wheelchair, she continues her work of encouraging some of the brightest and best to continue striving for excellence.
and to Edie.....you also keep up the good fight.

Just look at the expression on Stephanie's face ~ that says it all.
Edie & Charlie, you are still in our prayers. We know you 'walk' with the Lord every day and know you will actually be back on your feet soon.

I remember when nurses dressed like that...I loved their white stockings.
What a surprise! Taking my afternoon brain break today, I see this picture of nurse graduates. The first name I see, Elma Anderson, was my dad's cousin.
