Thanks to Keith Baker, aboard the Cason J. Callaway, we get a front row seat heading into the Soo Locks this past Friday morning. First photo you can see the locks opening, then the next shot we're headed into that lock.
You can see there's ice waiting for them above the locks and then they're on their way, headed to Duluth with sunshine guiding their way.
Keith snapped the last two photos on the return trip from Duluth back to the Soo Locks on Monday. He said these icy shots were taken as they were "Slugging their way to Gros Cap, and the Soo through an ice choked Whitefish bay." It's amazing there is still that much ice out there and thick in spots yet, also. I asked Keith if it was easier to get through now and he said that it is a little slow, but they got through.
